Why Horses?

When hoofbeats meet heartbeats something magical happens. Horses can’t mask their true instincts or tell stories to justify their actions, they don’t dwell on the past or fantasize about the future.

Horses are prey animals their only survival mechanism is raw instinct and being present in the moment. They use all of their senses simultaneously to monitor their surroundings, assess their safety, and communicate with other members of their herd.

When horses interact with humans, we become part of their herd. They use these same senses to connect intuitively with us on a biological, emotional and spiritual level and provide a clear reflection of our true inner being.

Horses can sense our personal incongruence and help guide us to a state of present, grounded awareness. When we are able to align body, mind, and heart we learn to unravel the stories and break down the limiting beliefs that block us from living a life worth being.

Hi there, I’m Sue!

I'm absolutely enamored by how horses can transform people's lives! I've spent countless hours with these gentle giants, witnessing firsthand the remarkable impact they have on people's hearts and minds. From teaching patience and empathy to igniting newfound confidence, horses have an uncanny ability to tap into our true essence of being. So, it was only natural for me to combine my love for horses with my passion for helping individuals flourish and create a life worth being. That's how my Equus coaching practice, Willoughby Coaching, came to life!

Picture this: horses and people teaming up to embark on a journey of self-discovery, growth, and awakening. It's like a magical dance between two souls who understand each other without saying a word.

The best way to describe the experience would be that you do different low-key activities with the horse from the ground. I started by talking to Sue while walking the horse around, while Sue noted the non-verbal body language of the horse. I told Sue about a client that was really taking a lot of my energy. The horse kept sticking its head into our walk path and nipping at me. Sue noticed this then and asked lovingly if I struggled with establishing loving boundaries. That question opened up a whole level of personal growth I wasn't really aware of. That awareness has really changed my life. One of my favorite moments near the end of our sessions together was INCREDIBLE! No joke - she showed me how to have a horse canter in a perfect circle, while I was in the middle of the ring, not touching the horse AT ALL, but moving it with my energy like I was super connected to my inner source of power. I barely even moved, just lightly shaking the rope I had in my hands. I learned how to call horses to me only using energy, thoughts, and body language, ultimately learning how to operate in my body/heart love center instead of just being in my head, which is the worry/survival/fear part of our makeup. Sue is one of a kind. I highly, highly recommend coaching with her!
